According to the report of La Tribune (www.latribune.fr), the annual report of Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry released on June 19 pointed out that Japan will fall off from the second position of the world economy; if China¡¯s economic growth exceeded the expectations and Japanese economy continued to deteriorate, China¡¯s gross domestic product in 2009 or 2010 would surpass Japan. And this conclusion is coincident with the anticipation of International Monetary Fund.
It was reported that Japanese economy continued to shrink in the second quarter of this year, down 14.2%, and the International Monetary Fund forecast that Japanese economy would decline 6.2% in 2009, while China¡¯s would grow by 6.5%. Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry admitted in the report that this was the first time that Japan was caught up or surpassed, calling on to rethink about Japan¡¯s role in the world economy and warning of the protectionism they had been trapped.
